COURSE OVERVIEW :
Globally, Public Health has emerged as a convergent domain for all disciplines in social and health sciences, today. The public health challenges being faced by the India call for the development of capacity in the health systems of the Central and State Governments by way of positioning qualified public health professionals who can execute and monitor national health policies and programmes, supervise the public health workforce, fully assess the dimensions of public health issues and devise appropriate strategies to meet emerging challenges. .
Course Objectives :
To prepare public health practitioners having the :
i) knowledge and skills of community diagnosis
ii) ability to design strategies to enhance community health
iii) skills to implement intervention programs
iv) skills to develop public health policy
v) knowledge to evaluate the impact of public health policies on community health
vi) leadership skills in public health administration
The students will be prepared for exciting careers in public health to play leadership roles in
a) International agencies, like the UN, WHO, World Bank,
b) International Foundations,
d) funding organizations,
e) corporate social responsibility departments
f) Public health programs of National and State Government.
The course is open to:-
a) In-service candidates working in central, state and local governments with at one year of service in the health sector.
b) Applicants should have MBBS, BDS, BPT, BOT or B.Sc in nursing/health science/ Biotechnology or BSW or equivalent qualification and involved either in:
• Public health activities at community, hospital or district level,
• In directorates of health services, public health or family welfare
• In other health-related organizations

Eligibility : :
i) A pass in MBBS/ BDS/Alternative Medicine/ Rehab Sciences/ Paramedical Sciences/Nursing.
ii) A degree in Psychology / Sociology/Applied Psychology/ Clinical Psychology or Social Work.
iii) A degree in Management where Hospital Management or Health Systems Management is a subject.
