The healthcare industry in India is worth $372 billion and is expanding at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 22%. Perhaps this is single most biggest sector almost immune to recession. Infact, post covid, have seen huge influx of FDI and PE into the hospital industry across the country adding to its strength helping healthcare in India to grow into a major economic driver, contributing significantly to the country's GDP and creating many new jobs. The sector directly employs almost 4.7 million people with around 500,000 new employment annually created in the industry adding to almost 2.7 million new jobs in India from 2017 to 2022.

Despite the increasing number of diseases and a shortage of qualified healthcare professionals in areas like public health, preventive cardiology, maternity and neonatal care, hospital and healthcare administration, and other related fields, the healthcare industry in India is poised for explosive growth. To add to this By 2028, artificial intelligence (AI) is slated to replace about 23% of existing occupations in India's healthcare system, which should result in the creation of almost 3 million of new jobs. Trained hospital executives, healthcare quality professionals, public health specialists, and other health personnel's importance in diverse fields has grown manifolds due to increased government initiatives under PMSY and other government schemes.
